Job summary

UR Medicine Thompson Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Observation unit. The RN will care for patients needing close monitoring and short-term care beyond an Emergency Department visit, under the guidance of a thoughtful unit leader.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, administering treatments, documenting progress, and educating patients and families about plans and discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved school of nursing.
• BSN or working towards a BSN or professional certification within one year of employment preferred.
• NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• 2–5 years of medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Current BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Good communication skills and skilled in customer service.
• Reliability and flexibility.
• Demonstrates the CARES Values at all times.

**Schedule: Full Time, Day/Evening/Night with weekend and holiday requirements**

The Observation unit RN will provide care to patients who require close monitoring and short-term care often due to acute conditions that don't necessitate full inpatient admission but do need more than an Emergency Room stay.

Job Responsibilities

• Assessment of patients to monitor for changes in patients' condition
• Treatment and medication administration
• Documentation of patient status and response to treatment
• Education of patient and family on treatment plan, discharge instructions and care protocols related to their condition
• Coordination of Care with physicians, case managers and other members of the health care team to ensure a safe discharge or full admission to the hospital

Requirements

• Graduate of approved school of nursing
• BSN or working towards a BSN or professional certification with in one year of employment preferred.
• NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse
• 2 to 5 years of medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred
• Current BLS required, ACLS preferred
• Good Communication skills and skilled in customer service
• Reliability and flexibility

**Position Pay Range: $38.00-50.00/hour**

**Starting Pay: Based on experience**
