Registered Nurse position will perform specialized nursing and medical treatment and deliver care to developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals, many who are also medically fragile. This position carries out nursing care plans based on the diagnoses and pertinent medical information and individual needs. The Registered nurse will independently carry out the nursing care process and will set up an environment to assist individuals in obtaining maximum level of functioning and/or recovery. They will administer medication, participate in interdisciplinary team process, assist in coordinating care for the individuals and work closely with the medical doctors, psychologist, social worker, recreational therapist, dietician and other professionals to assist the individual in meeting their maximum potential for independence and function while providing the best quality of life possible.Recruiting for multiple positions. - Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application.
- Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of nursing care.
- Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications.
- Ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff and provide feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff on care rendered to patients.
- Ability to provide patient and family education on disease processes, treatment and self-care.
- Ability to demonstrate patience in dealing with patients, clients, and families.
- Ability to communicate information to patients, families and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing or by demonstration.
- Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
Management Preferences:- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization while delivering quality nursing services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to pass and maintain CPR certification, CPI and able to lift minimum of 50 pounds.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
