Anticipated Vacancy - Positions 60049468 and 60049478

This position is a Registered Nurse who functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing. This Position is responsible for participating in the training, planning, organizing directing, coordinating, and the evaluation of education and training programs for the facility staff in collaboration with the Staff Development team. Assists the Director of Nursing Services in assuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Acts, NF Standards, OSHA Regulations and mandated Department of Health and Human Services policies, through the development of educational materials, training curriculums and instructional sessions. This nurse oversees the peer mentor program at the facility. The Nurse Educator is cross trained in all nursing orientation programs and assists in the implementation of training programs for the facility. This position serves as a facilitator in the monthly New Employee Orientation classes and assumes other training and development activities. This position serves as a facility resource in the development of goals, standards of practice and quality assurance for health-related training and credentialing requirements. Role will train and support staff through Employee Health Record implementation. This nurse assists with the coordinating of external nursing programs affiliated with the facility and helps manages the educational and training programs for all nursing services and other service personnel within the center. This position serves as a liaison to universities and colleges to include Intellectual Disability in curriculum and the use of O’Berry as a training site and for recruitment. This nurse will participate in the orientation of new nurses on campus. The position also participates in campus audits with the Quality Assurance team and other team members.

  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching techniques.

  • Ability to effectively teach nursing staff through orientation and annual training programs.

  • Thorough knowledge of agency/program philosophies, policies and procedures; formal training programs;

  • Ability to apply judgment in assessing training needs and coordinating programs. Ability to develop course outlines and lesson plans and to communicate information to a wide range of persons/programs;

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships and communication with internal management and outside facilities/agencies.

  • Able to analyze and evaluate data for compliance with applicable standards.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
