The State of South Carolina seeks a registered nurse for the Assertive Community Treatment team to deliver critical rehabilitative services for patients with serious mental illness. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care, medication management, and participate in a comprehensive treatment team initiative. This position is based in the Orangeburg Area Department of Mental Health and requires relevant education and experience, ensuring a positive impact on patient rehabilitation in the community.
Serves on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team providing evidence-based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model.
This position is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.
This position is located at the Orangeburg Area Department of Mental Health, 2319 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center / OAMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to employees of NHSC-approved sites. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, licensed to practice independently in the state where hired, and have unpaid government or commercial school loans. A two-year service commitment is required. Confirmation of qualification for this program is the applicant's responsibility.

Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center is part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, providing services to individuals in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg, and Holly Hill Counties.
Responsibilities include:
DMH Requirement: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Agency Requirement: A bachelor's degree in nursing with 2 years' experience, or a 3-year diploma with 2 years' experience, or an associate degree with 2 years' experience as a registered nurse, including 1 year in a community health program. Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the SC Board of Nursing. Experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and knowledge of psychiatric medications are required.
