Job summary

Mcpherson Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical unit on the night shift. You will provide individualized nursing care to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and meet patients’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs during illness.

Required: RN licensure in Kansas, associate degree in nursing (BSN preferred), BLS; ACLS/PALS within 6 months. Benefits include health/dental/vision, retirement plan, and more.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program.
• Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) preferred
• Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse or LPN in good standing
• BLS verification within 6 months of hiring
• ACLS and PALS verified within 6 months of hiring

Responsibilities

• Assess patient understanding of plan of care, to educate during hospital stay.
• Follows established protocols for narcotic and other medication administration ensuring the 5 rights of medication administration
• Communicates pertinent information related to patients’ condition to inform doctors, nurses and ancillary departments
• Document concerns, findings, and actions, implementing appropriate care plans
• Assess patient’s condition, monitor changes in status, vital signs and coping skills to ensure appropriate care.

Job Summary:

Provides the highest attainable quality of individualized nursing care for each patient to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment in which the patient’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs are assessed and met during any stage of illness.

Essential Functions/Accountabilities:

• Assess patient understanding of plan of care, to better facilitate education opportunities and materials during hospital stay, working towards dismissal from admission
• Follows established protocols for narcotic and other medication administration ensuring the 5 rights of medication administration are met
• Communicates pertinent information related to patients’ condition to inform doctors, additional staff nurses and/or ancillary departments of patient’s needs and/or plan of care
• Document concerns, findings, and actions, implementing appropriate care plans related to patient’s diagnosis for continuity of care
• Assess patient’s condition, continuously monitoring changes in status, physical findings, vital signs, coping skills ensuring appropriate care is given related to patient’s needs

Education:

• Associate’s degree in Nursing (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program.
• Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) preferred

Licenses/ Certifications:

• Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse or LPN in good standing
• BLS verification within 6 months of hiring
• ACLS and PALS verified within 6 months of hiring
