Job summary

Riley Children's Health in Indianapolis seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) Navigator to guide families through high-risk pregnancies from prenatal diagnosis to delivery and postpartum follow-up.

The RN will coordinate comprehensive care plans and serve as the primary contact for families, collaborating with maternal-fetal medicine, obstetric providers, pediatric subspecialists, surgeons, and neonatology to ensure seamless care and individualized plans.

Qualifications

  • Requires ASN nursing degree.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • 3–5 years of experience preferred.
  • Clinical experience in OB-ED, L&D, Antepartum, or Level IV NICU.
  • BLS certification; other life support may be required.
  • Knowledge of medical records, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate comprehensive care plans for fetal patients across pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum.
  • Serve as primary contact for patients and families navigating diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine, obstetric providers, pediatric subspecialists, surgeons, and neonatologists.
  • Coordinate fetal interventions, testing, delivery planning, and post-delivery follow-up.
  • Facilitate advance care planning and discuss options and resources with families.
  • Provide emotional support and education to families facing difficult diagnoses.
  • Support families through pregnancy loss or complex bereavement.
  • Advocate for patients' clinical, emotional, logistical, and financial needs.
  • Ensure clear communication among multidisciplinary teams and smooth transitions.

Riley Children's Fetal Center is Indiana's premier destination for specialized fetal care, fetal interventions, and complex pregnancy management. As a recognized leader in fetal medicine, our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care for families facing high-risk pregnancies and diagnosed fetal anomalies. Through advanced technology, innovative fetal therapies, and close collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric subspecialists, neonatologists, and surgeons, we are committed to optimizing outcomes for both mothers and babies. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Navigator to join our Fetal Center team. This role serves as a critical care management resource for families navigating complex fetal diagnoses, coordinating care from prenatal diagnosis through delivery and postpartum follow‑up.

Schedule
  • Full-time
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week
  • 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Rotating weekdays
  • No weekends or holidays

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate comprehensive care plans for patients with low-risk to high-risk fetal anomalies, ensuring continuity of care throughout pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and families navigating complex fetal diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetric providers, pediatric subspecialists, surgeons, neonatologists, and ancillary services to develop individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate fetal interventions, diagnostic testing, delivery planning, specialty consultations, and post-delivery follow-up care.
  • Facilitate advance care planning discussions and assist families in understanding treatment options, anticipated outcomes, and available resources.
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and education to families facing difficult diagnoses, including pregnancies with uncertain or poor prognoses.
  • Support families experiencing pregnancy loss, neonatal loss, or complex bereavement situations.
  • Advocate for patients and families by addressing clinical, emotional, logistical, and financial needs.
  • Ensure seamless communication among multidisciplinary care teams and support smooth transitions throughout the continuum of care.
Qualifications:
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Clinical experience in one or more of the following:
    • OB Emergency Department (OB-ED)
    • Labor & Delivery (L&D)
    • Antepartum Care
    • Level IV NICU (preferably Riley Children's Health or comparable tertiary/quaternary care center)
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care.
  • Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software.
  • Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology.
  • Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
