Job Description

This role is a registered professional nurse who is accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care of assigned patients. As a member of the clinical and work unit team, the Registered Nurse participates in decision-making and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Directs patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift. Identifies changes in patient's physiological condition.
- Communicates patient status to multidisciplinary team members.
- Communicates directly with patients and families about nursing care.
- Provides clinical interventions to meet patient needs.
- Documents the nursing process.
- Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plans to provide safe, quality care.
- Ensures safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
Clinical Skills
- Demonstrates clinical competence.
- Provides direct patient care.
- Directs patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift.
- Performs ongoing assessment of patients and their significant others, considering biopsychosocial and learning needs.
- Contributes to the care plan in coordination with the patient care team.

- Monitors and documents patient responses to interventions and progress toward outcomes.
- Practices cost-effective care regarding equipment, supplies, and resources.

Research Protocols

Qualifications
Required:
- Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligibility in Illinois.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Certification in BLS CPR.
Preferred:
- One year of nursing experience.
