Job summary

Carson Tahoe Health is seeking a registered nurse for the MOMs Clinic to deliver safe, patient-centered obstetric care. You will participate in family planning and care planning, collaborating with physicians and support staff to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires an active Nevada RN license, BLS certification, and C-EFM within three years of hire, plus at least one year of antepartum, peripartum, or postpartum experience. Strong documentation and patient education are essential.

Qualifications

• C-EFM certification renewed every 3 years thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessment and evaluation of patients, including vital signs and fetal monitoring.
• Develop and communicate nursing care plans for patients and families.
• Document care plans and medications clearly in patient records.
• Collaborate with physicians/APCs and support staff to ensure safe care.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and discharge needs.
• Respond to urgent or emergency situations and adjust care as needed.

Job description

Under the direction of the department manager and supervisor, the registered nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient centered care throughout Carson Tahoe MOMs Clinic. Proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contributes to the nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, education, and evaluation of patients. Maintains contact with the patient through personal encounters while working collaboratively with the Physician/APC and support staff while ensuring high quality, responsive, and holistic patient care. Develops and participates in family planning, and care plan of patients.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current and unencumbered licensure or Interim Permit as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
• One (1) year of experience in antepartum, peripartum, or postpartum care.
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring OR National Certification Corporation (NCC) Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) within three (3) years of hire or position entry and renewed every three (3) years thereafter.

Preferred:

• S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification
• American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for healthcare providers
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers Certification within six (6) months of hire or position entry

Essential Functions

• Performs assessment and evaluation of the patient by assessing vital signs, fetal heart tones, fundal height, notes changes, and pursues more specific investigation as needed.
• Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the physician/APC and others caring for the patient, and by incorporating information in the nursing care plan.
• Uses assessment information to develop a care plan that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patient.
• Includes the patient and his or her family in planning care, establishing priorities, and setting goals.
• Documents an individualized care plan based upon the changing needs of the patient and incorporates each patients’ chronic and acute conditions.
• Consistently follows established standards, policies and procedures in providing nursing care.
• Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of non-professional personnel.
• Identifies patient teaching needs and provides elementary instructions for the patient and his or her family.
• Notes discharge planning elements and incorporates these in care plans
• Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations
• Evaluates and notes the individual patient’s response to nursing care defined in the nursing care plan and medical records.
• Appropriately delegates and supervises care scheduled by non-professional personnel, providing instruction as needed.
• Demonstrates proficiency as defined in the position/group/department checklists and unit specific competency standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
