Summary

The House Supervisor specializes in managing and supervising care teams in order to create and maintain a high level of patient care/flow. Ensures patient care needs are met, monitors nursing care needs, facilitates staffing, and acts as support person throughout the organization including ancillary departments.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • CurrentAmerican Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • A minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing in an acute care facility, preferably in critical care.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers within 6 months of hire.If hired prior to 03/06/2026, must successfully completeACLS by 09/06/2026.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months.If hired prior to 03/06/2026, must successfully completeNIHSS by 09/06/2026.
  • Completes Hospital Incident Command System training
Preferred:
  • Management or Leadership experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) for healthcare providers within 6 months of hire
  • Successfully complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within six (6) months of hire or position entry
Essential Functions
  • Attends 75% of departmental staff meetings
  • Completes 100% of all required Unit and Hospital education and Employee Health annual requirements by the established deadlines.
  • Coordinates daily staffing to meet patient care needs while being fiscally responsible.
  • Ensures compliance with standards, policies, procedures, employee contract, and nursing scope of practice.
  • Promotes and facilitates patient flow ensuring proper patient placement and nursing care throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates initial response during emergency situations; i.e. Codes, Disaster, etc., and serves as incident commander or other emergency role
  • Serves as an expert clinician, acting as a clinical resource for the staff. Understands their chain of command and appropriate resources available.
  • Demonstrates expert skill in managing and planning care for complex patient/family scenarios including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and learning needs of the patient/family.
  • As part of the leadership team, collaborates in developing, monitoring and changing practice as a result of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates the ability to enhance skills and performance of others in order to achieve professional and organizational goals. This competency is demonstrated by systematically providing clear objectives, performance-specific feedback, effective coaching and developmental experience/opportunities.
  • As part of the leadership team, participates in the implementation of the accreditation standards, including assessment, knowledge and escalation of identified issues during environment of care rounds.
  • Encourages cost-effectiveness with material and human resources by role modeling, teaching and coaching behavior in others.
  • Promotes effective communication through body language, verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Serves as liaison/promotes teamwork/relations between staff, providers, visitors, patients, and outside hospitals/facilities.
  • Resolves issues/questions/concerns using collaboration and critical thinking skills.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to clinical leaders or administrator on call when necessary
  • Educates and mentor staff.
  • Provides ancillary (pharmacy, supplies, employee health, leadership, etc.) support after hours.
  • Participates in Hospital Incident Command System training and live scenarios on a continuous basis
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
