Qualifications

Job Summary: Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director, House Supervisor. FLSA: Non-exempt.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, management of ventilated patients, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
2. Documents patient care given (timely) and maintains required documents to include: shift report, midnight census, daily floor log, refrigerator logs, and crash cart checks.
3. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
4. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
5. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support needs.
6. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
7. Acts as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
8. Supervises and evaluates nursing care and documentation for any Licensed Vocational Nurse on duty in the Med-Surg Unit.

RN Charge

1. Floats between staff to assist with problem solving.
2. Determines staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, ability, census, patient acuity, and work flow.
3. Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during shift.
4. ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

RN Superpool

1. Floats between multiple nursing departments based on census.

Qualifications

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• ACLS required within 1 year of hire date.
• Handle With Care required within 1 year of hire date.

Licenses:

• RN license required.
