Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with policies and best practices.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies accurately and safely.
  • Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and revise care plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
  • Coordinate with physicians, case management, and interdiscplinary team for efficient care and timely discharges.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
  • Promote patient safety through infection prevention and telemetry monitoring.
  • Mentor and precept nursing staff and students as appropriate.

Under the direction of the Director or Charge Nurse, the RN utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing nursing diagnoses, creating and implementing individualized care plans, evaluating patient outcomes, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote exceptional clinical results.

Hours - 6:45am-7:15pm

We are seeking a nurse who demonstrates the ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment and provide safe, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and clinical best practices.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies accurately and safely.
  • Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and revise care plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with Stroke and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Core Measures and other quality initiatives.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, case management, and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate efficient patient flow and timely discharges.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Promote patient safety through infection prevention, restraint monitoring, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response protocols.
  • Supervise and appropriately delegate patient care activities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Nurse Technicians, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, continuing education, competency training, and professional development.
  • Mentor and precept new nursing staff and students, as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
  • Previous acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred.
  • New graduate nurses may be considered based on current unit needs and the availability of experienced preceptors and onboarding resources.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Candidates should demonstrate adaptability, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage multiple patients in a dynamic environment.
  • A stable employment history is preferred. Candidates who have demonstrated commitment and longevity in prior roles are generally more likely to be successful long-term members of the team.
  • Candidates with frequent job changes over a short period may require further discussion regarding career goals and reasons for transitioning.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Additional Considerations

Experience limited to long-term care, skilled nursing, or nursing home settings may not fully prepare candidates for the pace and complexity of an acute care medical unit. Candidates should be able to demonstrate readiness to transition into a hospital-based environment.
