Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) invites qualified registered nurses to join the Medical Surgical Post-Op 4 West team. This 46-bed unit delivers general post-operative care across colorectal, surgical oncology, gynecology, trauma and other services.

The RN will provide patient-centered care and uphold BMC's standards and care model. The role offers night shifts, 36 hours per week, with weekend rotation, and opportunities for training, development, and growth within a mission-driven health system

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as an RN in Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred.
  • BLS/ACLS certification required in certain units.
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
  • Relevant clinical experience; specialty certification may be required for some areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
  • Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
  • Update and manage patient records.
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.

ABOUT THE MEDICAL SURGICAL 4 WEST UNIT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: 4 West 46-bed surgical unit provides general post-operative care for colorectal, surgical oncology, gynecology, trauma and acute care surgery (TACS) patients, bariatric surgery, urology, plastics, transgender, transplant, and vascular surgery patients.

POSITION SUMMARY: As an RN in the Medical Surgical, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred),
  • Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus

NursingMS Compensation Range: $38.05- $75.33 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
