Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital in Freeport, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med-Surg unit on a part-time basis. The role involves night shifts, 7pm–7:30am, and requires delivering patient-centered care, coordinating with the care team, and maintaining accurate documentation.

The position emphasizes safety and quality improvement within a collaborative environment. Ideal candidates are graduates of an accredited nursing program with ADN required and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.
• RN licensure in state of practice; CPR/BLS within 90 days.
• Other certifications per unit requirements (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing needs, administering medications and treatments, creating individualized care plans, and documenting care.
• Works with the healthcare team, educates patients and families, promotes safety, and helps improve the quality of patient care.
• Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act.
• Documents according to standards of care.
• Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
• Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
• Utilizes clinical expertise to support other units’ longitudinal plan of care.
• Escalates patient safety concerns to the appropriate chain of command.
• Participates in professional nursing continuum processes and peer review.
