The Medical Surgical unit is located on the 3rd floor of Goshen Hospital. This is a 19-bed Med Surg unit with a patient population primarily consisting of medical patients, minor surgical patients, some oncology, inpatient hospice, and Peds.
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5

Practices professional nursing at an excellent level within the Goshen nursing model of care, focusing on the patient/family using the nursing process, culturally appropriate interventions, and holistic principles, with attention to continuity of care and patient advocacy, while maintaining a safe environment. The nurse is a leader in professional nursing both in direct care and colleague relationships, using ethical principles, collaboration, peer review, evidence-based practice, and teaching & learning principles.

Position Accountabilities:

• Supports and actively works to achieve hospital, department, and unit goals.

Position Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: Registered nurse with a valid Indiana State RN license.
  Colleagues hired with an associate degree must enter a BSN program within 12 months of hire and earn their BSN from an NLN or CCNE accredited program within 5 years of beginning their BSN degree.
  Effective February 2021, colleagues hired with an associate degree and 10 or more years of nursing experience may be exempt from entering into a BSN program.
• Preferred Experience: One to two years experience related to the unit of hire.
• Certifications Required: AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
• Certifications Preferred: Specific to unit of practice: Med/Surg - Medical/Surgical
