Job summary

Orlando Health Behavioral Health Hospital in Apopka, Florida is seeking an RN Nurse Manager to lead inpatient behavioral health nursing teams on the day shift. A BSN or higher is strongly preferred, along with one year of population-specific experience and one year of charge RN or administrative experience.

The role supports the DON/CNO, ensuring patient safety and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to meet residents’ biopsychosocial needs while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BSN or higher strongly preferred.
• Current RN license in the state.
• Three years as RN strongly preferred.
• Two years RN experience required.
• Two years of RN experience with patient population preferred.
• One year of population experience required.
• One year of charge RN or admin experience required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates census and acuity changes and allocates nursing resources based on patient acuity/care needs.
• Role models customer service expectations and emphasizes patient safety.
• Accountable for standard of care; provides consultations and expertise in care delivery.
• Serve as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff as assigned.
• Manage activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines.
• Manage and evaluate work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service or maintenance staff for unit or facility.
• Analyze information to choose best solutions to problems.
• Recruit, hire and train new staff.
• Identify educational needs and develop training programs.
• Assist with development/implementation of policies/procedures.
• Prepare reports informing management of status/initiatives.
• Plan budgets and authorize expenditures.
• Provide direct care as needed.

Education

BSN or higher strongly preferred

Current registered nursing license in State of facility required

Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred

Two years of registered nursing experience required

Two years of prior experience as a registered nursing with patient population of the facility is preferred

One year of prior experience with the population required

Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred

One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required

• Acadia and Orlando Health offers a new 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Apopka, Florida. The state-of-the-art hospital recently opened and provides inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults.
• PURPOSE STATEMENT:
• Assists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
• Identify the educational needs of others and develop educational or training programs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
• Prepare reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit.
• Perform administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.
• Provide direct care as needed.
