Job summary

• RN leadership/management experience preferred.
• Two years of RN experience at a level equivalent to RN P11 or one year at RN 12/Manager 12.

This employee oversees the day to day operations of the correctional clinic supervising all nursing staff to include Registered Professional Nurses, providing direct patient care, and assuring that all patients receive appropriate health care. Oversees health care provided in facility general population/segregation units to include medical and mental health treatment.

Education

Completion of a degree in nursing or nursing school educational program accepted for registered nurse licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

Experience

Two years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11 or one year equivalent to a Registered Nurse 12 or a Registered Nurse Manager 12.

Alternate Education and Experience

Registered Nurse Manager13

Possession of a master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11; or, possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for six months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.

Possession of a Michigan registered nurse license in good standing.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
