Is a member of the Health Care Clinical Management Team overseeing the clinical operation at all of various Correctional Facilities including WHV, ARF, DDC/DRC, and WCC and directly supervises WHV, ARF, DDC/DRC Health Unit Managers. Spends at least three days a week at WHV and visits other sites at least monthly. Serves as second line supervisor for nursing supervisors, clerical, medical record, and ancillary staff; and third line supervisor for clinic nursing staff. Assists the Assistant Health Service Administrator in the overall management of individual facility clinics. This person’s office is located within the secure perimeter of the facility. This position is a drug and alcohol testing position.

Education
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience
  • Three years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 14 or Registered Nurse Manager 14, or two years equivalent to a Registered Nurse Manager 15 or Registered Nurse Director 15.
  • Possession of a master's degree in nursing and two years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 14 or Registered Nurse Manager 14; or, possession of a master's degree in nursing and one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse Manager 15 or Registered Nurse Director 15 may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
Licensure
  • Possession of Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Additional Requirements
  • Positions in the Department of Community Health may require possession of a master’s degree.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
