This position will oversee nursing staff on the night shift, and the nursing care of inmates within Dixon Correctional Institute’s medical department. The manager will also assist in night shift scheduling and organization of the staff.

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found
here. Job Duties:- Provide nursing care to inmates at DCI.
- Makes regular patient rounds to observe and assess patients' physical conditions and behaviors, evaluates the quality of care provided, and ensures proper documentation of treatment and nursing observations.
- Manage and organize assignments and job duties for the shift.
- Must have RN Nursing license.
Supervise: Serves as Manager of all of night shift and assumes responsibility for staffing and/or care of inmates within the infirmary.

or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE
OF LOUISIANA STATE GOVERNMENT (State Employee)
This position may be filled as:
- DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
- TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
This position has a Special Entrance Rate.
Registered Nurse Manager has an SER of $44.79 per hour.
‘Premium Pay’ paid in addition to regular pay for qualifying conditions:
Retention * Credentials * Experience * Shift Differential
There is Premium Pay at a rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
