The Charge Nurse at Hegg Health Center plays an active role in nursing, mentors staff, assesses residents, and communicates with staff, physicians and residents to ensure quality clinical care. This role serves as a resident advocate for quality care and oversees care plans and documentation.

• At least 2 years of long term care experience with strong assessment and communication skills required.
• RN (IA) licensure required.
• Certification in Gerontological nursing is preferred, specialized training or experience in geriatric nursing is desirable.
• Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, supervisory skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing clinical care, nursing practice and leadership.
• Commitment to person centered and resident directed care is essential.

Position Highlights

The Charge Nurse performs an active role in nursing, as well as mentoring staff, assessing residents, communicating with staff, physicians and residents. This position will serve as a resident advocate for quality clinical care. The Charge Nurse will ensure completion of care plans and required documentation, uphold regulatory compliance, nurture resident-directed culture, strengthen the ability of the household to grow as a separate effective home and promote individual and team learning in the household. Charge Nurses are teachers and role-models of professional practices to all household staff. This role will also work cooperatively with social services, activities, dietary services and housekeeping to ensure facilitation of the household model of care. This role will require problem solving, conflict resolution and ensuring that the needs and desires of the residents are met.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• At least 2 years of long term care experience with strong assessment and communication skills required.
• RN (IA) licensure required
• Certification in Gerontological nursing is preferred, specialized training or experience in geriatric nursing is desirable.
