As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The RN demonstrates leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensures quality outcomes. YNHHS nurses operate within our professional practice model: 'Achieving outcomes through Autonomy and Accountability'. The RN provides care that includes:
Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Experience: Registered Nurse experience is fundamental for all RNs.
Licensure: Must be licensed and currently registered in the State of employment.
Requires prolonged standing, walking, and use of sight, hearing, and touch. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional stress, and end-of-life situations. Must be able to assist with patient handling, including lifting patients weighing from 5 to 300 pounds.
