The RN demonstrates leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensures quality outcomes. The RN provides care that includes:

  • Establishing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with patients and families, incorporating cultural and diversity considerations
  • Collaborating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Respecting patients' values, preferences, needs, and healthcare knowledge in holistic care planning and evaluation
Responsibilities
  • Standards of Practice: Guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015), the RN utilizes the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver competent care.
  • Standards of Professional Performance: Follow ANA Standards (2015) covering ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN engages in professional activities appropriate to their role and is accountable for their actions.
  • May assist with or perform chaperone duties during patient procedures as needed.
Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience: Registered Nurse experience is fundamental for all RNs.

Licensure: Must be licensed and currently registered in the State of employment.

Physical Demands

Requires prolonged standing, walking, and use of sight, hearing, and touch. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional stress, and end-of-life situations. Must be able to assist with patient handling, including lifting patients weighing from 5 to 300 pounds.

Additional Information

Salary is commensurate with experience:

  • BSN Min: $41.20 - Max: $86.42
  • Non-BSN Min: $40.00 - Max: $83.90
