Job summary

Sierra Medical Center in Reno, NV, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Labor & Delivery unit to provide safe, competent obstetric care during labor and birth, and to support mothers and families throughout the intrapartum period.

The role includes continuous monitoring, patient education, and collaboration with the healthcare team to manage obstetric emergencies and postpartum care, in a 170-bed acute care setting with full benefits and a night shift schedule.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Current Nevada nursing license.
  • Current BLS certificate. NRP, STABLE within 6 mo. of hire
  • ACLS (or obtained within six months of employment).
  • Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
  • Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Involves the patient and family psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, population specific, and diversity needs in care assessment
  • Constructs and implements the plan of care using nursing knowledge and skill.
  • Coordinates the implementation of the interdisciplinary plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Develops goals, treatment plans, and discharge plans that meet individual patient/family needs.
  • Collaborates with the patient’s designated care partner to meet educational, physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.

This Registered Nurse for the Labor & Deliver y unit opportunity is full time @ 36 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient night shift schedule. This dynamic individual will take care of pregnant patients during labor, obstetrical emergencies, and other obstetric conditions. The labor and delivery nurse provides care during the intrapartum period (labor and birth). A labor and delivery nurse provides support, medical care, and constant monitoring of the pregnant patient and her fetus throughout labor and birth. Labor and delivery nurses assist and educate patients with labor and delivery conditions. Labor and delivery nurses provide incredible patient support, critical nursing care, and comprehensive pregnancy and postpartum education.


Job Summary: Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:
