Role Summary

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients during the antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods. Utilizing the nursing process, you will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, supervise care delivery, evaluate outcomes, and collaborate effectively with the medical plan of care and hospital policies within the L&D setting.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the physical and psychosocial needs of patients during labor, delivery, and recovery.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on assessments, physician orders, and fetal monitoring data.

Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, vital sign monitoring, fetal monitoring interpretation, and assisting with labor and delivery procedures.

Educate patients and support persons about the labor process, pain management options, delivery, and immediate postpartum/newborn care.

Supervise and correlate the nursing process with the medical plan of care and hospital policies.

Respond appropriately to changes in maternal or fetal condition and obstetric emergencies.

Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians/neonatologists, and other members of the healthcare team.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher from an accredited program (Required).

License: Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) License (Required).

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (Required); Current Fetal Monitoring certification (Required); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (Required within 6 months of hire).

Experience: At least one year of experience as an RN, preferably in Labor & Delivery or a related Maternal/Child Health field (Preferred).
