Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) – Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology
The RN manages and directs nursing care activities in the cath lab and interventional radiology areas. The role requires a high level of energy, initiative, and dedication to support the success of Saint Louis University Hospital.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission or transfer and document findings accurately.
  • Establish and coordinate individualized plans of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, and physician orders.
  • Provide and document nursing interventions, including medication administration, blood drawing, and patient education.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition, take appropriate nursing actions, and communicate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document effectiveness of care, modify plans as needed, and evaluate patient education outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development activities, committee memberships, staff meetings, and mandatory in‑services.
  • Practice safety and infection control, including universal precautions, hazardous waste disposal, and control of bloodborne pathogens.
  • Deliver courteous, respectful service to patients and families, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Incorporate quality improvement practices, collect data, and collaborate on action plans to enhance patient care.
  • Provide age‑appropriate care for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Apply specialized care procedures such as restraint management, pain management, and abuse assessment as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
  • Minimum one year of medical–surgical nursing experience (critical care or post anesthesia care preferred).
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of employment (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin).
    Additional certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) with the American Heart Association.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including irregular hours and shift work.
Working Conditions
  • Regular exposure to bloodborne diseases and latex.
  • Interaction with patients in varied circumstances, including emergencies.
  • Unpredictable, high‑pressure environment with multiple competing demands.
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and transferring patients.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and pull 100 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch regularly.
