Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, KS is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit on Weekend Work Days. This part-time role offers weekend coverage with day shifts, competitive hourly pay, and opportunities to advance your clinical ladder.

You'll assess patients, develop care plans, administer medications, educate families, and collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; RN licensure in good standing.
• BLS certification required; additional state-specific credentials may apply.
• Ability to work in a high-acuity ICU environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients across physiological and psychosocial domains.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and reassess regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and protocols.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and self-care.
• Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate patient care and maintain effective teamwork.

Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit Weekend Work Days

Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological,
• psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
• Ability to work as a Team player within a unit
• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills
• EKG (based on patient ; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements)
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)
• Basic computer skills - must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs
• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes
