Unit Description: The SCU Patient Populations consist of Critical Care, Stepdown, and High-Risk Med-Surgical acuity. The unit consists of 8-bed units that include bedside procedures, which are completed on a scheduled and Emergency Basis - for example, Bronchoscopy, Cardioversion, CVC Placement, Intubation, Etc. Our patients include adults and Geriatric (No Pediatrics) Our Care team consists of a team that provides safe, quality care: Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, RN Case Managers, Medical Providers, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator. Our PCM and Charge Nurses are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols. Our electronic medical record is EPIC. Ratios for SCU include 2:1 ICU, 3-4:1 Stepdown, 5-6:1 Med-Surgical-ICU Staff are cross trained to Med-Surgical Assignment during orientation.
Work Experience: One year of nursing experience (preferred) RN new grads are welcome
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
Physical Requirements: Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
