Registered Nurse II (RN), Emergency Department, 20K Sign On Bonus

UMMC Midtown Campus, one of two campuses of the University of Maryland Medical Center, has a long history of working to keep our community healthy. It has grown to become a trusted teaching hospital for medical and surgical care in Baltimore City.

Located in Baltimore’s cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital focused on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide independent care to unit-specific patient populations; serve as a clinical resource for others; utilize and integrate evidence into practice; function effectively in roles specific to the unit (such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.).
2. Serve as an effective primary coordinating nurse; collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient and family needs.
3. Serve as a clinical resource for others.
4. Assist in team development and evaluation of the Relationship-Based Care model; suggest methods for improvement; participate in data collection related to outcomes (e.g., hand-offs, medication safety).
5. Participate in implementation efforts addressing Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing; BSN preferred. Up-to-date on all mandatory training and classes.
• One year of nursing experience with solid clinical skills and knowledge.
• Current CPR certification.
• Maintain 10 contact hours of education every two years.
