The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Medical Center, located in Moreno Valley, is currently recruiting Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department (ED).
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Emergency Department experience working in an acute care setting.
Certificates required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (Stroke) Certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course Certification (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)
Emergency Department Description
The ED is a large unit with 40 treatment areas, including trauma beds, cardiac beds, monitored beds, and general exam rooms. It operates 24/7 with attending and resident physicians.
Work Schedule & Differentials
- 3/12s night shift, 1900 - 0730
- Additional differentials include evening ($2.50/hr) and night shift ($5.00/hr)
- ED Critical Care differential based on years of experience

Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to patients.
- Assist physicians with treatments, examinations, tests, and surgeries.
- Administer treatments and medications, chart patient progress, and report changes.
- Counsel patients and families on healthcare methods.
- Maintain records, instruct patients, and transcribe physician orders.
- Train new staff, residents, students, and participants.
- Participate in quality assurance and lead or assist as charge nurse.
- Assign and monitor nursing staff, participate in committees, and identify training needs.
- Triages patients and manages patient flow.
- Testify in court regarding patient condition.
- Coordinate patient care during hospitalization and discharge planning.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse II - MC/CHC
- Valid California RN license or out-of-state license with work authorization.
- Education: Completion of education required for RN licensure in California, possibly including a bachelor's degree.
- Experience: At least one year of full-time RN experience in an acute care or outpatient setting.
Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC
- Same educational requirements as RN II.
- Experience: Three years of full-time RN experience in acute care or community health, with possible substitutions for education level.
- Knowledge of nursing principles, medical terminology, patient care, laws, and regulations.
- Ability to perform nursing duties, organize care, maintain records, and collaborate effectively.
Additional Requirements
- Current RN license in California or eligible to work in California.
- Certificates: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC or ATCN.
Pre-Employment & Probation
Offers contingent on physical exam, drug test, and background check. Probationary period applies per County policies.
