Job Opportunity: Registered Nurses at Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Medical Center

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Medical Center, located in Moreno Valley, is currently recruiting Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department (ED).

Ideal Candidate: At least one year of Emergency Department experience in an acute care setting.

Certificates Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS (Stroke) Certification
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification

The ED features 40 treatment areas, including trauma beds, cardiac beds, and specialized monitored beds, staffed 24/7 with physicians and residents.

Work Schedule:

  • 3/12 shifts, night shift, 1900 – 0730

Additional Differentials:

  • Evening Shift (6:00pm - 11:00pm): $2.50/hr
  • Night Shift (11:00pm - 7:30am): $5.00/hr
  • ED Critical Care Differential based on experience: $4.00/hr (0-3 years), $5.50/hr (4-6 years), $7.00/hr (7+ years)

Responsibilities include:
  • Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care
  • Assist physicians with treatments and examinations
  • Administer treatments and medications, charting and reporting changes
  • Counsel patients and families
  • Maintain records and reports
  • Train new staff and students
  • Participate in quality assurance and team leadership
  • Manage patient triage and coordinate care
  • Testify in court as needed
  • Monitor patients through hospitalization and discharge planning
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse II - MC/CHC

Education: Valid RN license in California; a bachelor's degree may be required for some positions.

Experience: At least one year as a full-time RN in an acute care or outpatient setting, including interim permit experience.

Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC

Education: Same as RN II, with possible additional requirements for some positions.

Experience: Three years in an acute care or community health setting, with possible substitutions for educational credentials.

Knowledge & Skills: Current nursing principles, medical terminology, patient care, legal regulations, discharge planning, and reimbursement processes.

Ability: Perform full nursing duties, organize care, maintain records, collaborate with staff, and evaluate medical records.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC or ATCN.

Pre-Employment & Probation:

Contingent upon physical, drug, and background checks. Probationary period applies per County policies.
