Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore is seeking a Clinical Research Registered Nurse to support inpatient research protocols and provide nursing care for patients participating in clinical studies. The role requires an ADN with RN licensure; BSN is preferred.

You will collaborate with investigators and multidisciplinary teams, follow protocol-driven procedures, educate patients, and contribute to research integrity in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• ADN is required; BSN preferred and applicants with an ADN will be considered and must matriculate into a BSN program
• RN license (MD RN or compact) is required
• CPR certification is required
• 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience; prior research nursing is a plus but not required
• Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail; ability to follow protocol-driven procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork; collaborate with research teams, physicians, and staff

Responsibilities

• Support inpatient research protocols on an inpatient unit with investigators and coordinators
• Provide Med/Surg nursing care: assessments, medications, study treatments, monitoring
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure safe, compliant conduct of research activities
• Educate patients and families about study procedures, risks, and benefits
• Collaborate in reviewing and refining new protocols from bedside nursing perspective

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled Clinical Research Registered Nurse to support inpatient research protocols and provide outstanding nursing care for patients participating in clinical studies.

• Support and implement Hopkins clinical research protocols on an inpatient unit, working closely with principal investigators, research coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide general Med/Surg nursing care: assess patients, administer medications and study treatments, monitor clinical status, and deliver nursing interventions as needed.
• Ensure safe, compliant conduct of research activities at the bedside—maintain accurate documentation, adhere to protocol requirements, and assist with data collection.
• Educate and support patients and families about study procedures, risks/benefits, and care during participation in clinical trials.
• Collaborate in the review and refinement of new protocols from a bedside nursing perspective, helping ensure feasibility and patient-centered implementation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
• Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) (Preferred) and
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Bachelor of Nursing program.
• MD RN or compact Registered Nurse License (Required)
• CPR - Basic CPR (Required)
• 1-year Med/Surg nursing experience; prior research nursing experience a plus but not required—training and support will be provided.
• Strong clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow protocol-driven procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with research teams, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff.

Salary Range: Minimum $39.64/hour - Maximum $61.45/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
