The role you’ll contribute:

The Patient Care Supervisor (PCS) is accountable for administrative supervision of the hospital during the evening, weekends, and designated holiday hours. The PCS is responsible for acting as a role model for the vision and values of Shawnee Mission Medical Center. S/he is accountable for working within the parameters of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, established policies, protocols, and procedures; and utilizes other pertinent references as guidelines for clinical practice. The PCS collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and associates to meet customer needs and expectations in a patient-focused/healing environment. PCS is accountable for administering, supervising, and/or coaching this process to strengthen the accountable work team.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  1. Reviews staffing and census of all nursing units to determine if staffing is consistent with the budget and patient needs. Adjusts staff as possible.
  2. Makes frequent rounds throughout the hospital to assess and resolve issues and incidents.
  3. Provides crisis intervention for all hospital departments.
  4. Facilitates patient admissions and patient flow.
  5. Assists in handling emergency surgery by contacting Surgical Services and Cardiac Cath Lab staff on call.
  6. Assists staff in obtaining equipment and supplies as needed.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Kansas Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
