Job summary

MetroHealth in Cleveland seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Acute Care Adult Trauma Step Down Unit (5 East). You will deliver direct patient care, monitor patients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment.

The role requires Ohio RN licensure and BLS-HCP certification, with 1 year of RN experience for PRN shifts. Rotating days and nights, weekends, and holidays are expected; MetroHealth supports tuition reimbursement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Ohio RN licensure.
• Current BLS-HCP certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of RN experience and all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Acute Care Trauma Step Down Unit, 5 East.
• Collaborate with LPNs, PCNAs, providers, and other team members.
• Monitor patients, perform basic procedures, and ensure charting accuracy.

Shift: D/N-0700-1530,0700-1930,1900-0730,2300-0730 Rotating Days and Nights; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Trauma

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV Insertion, cardiac monitoring, trauma care
• Various drains, complex wound care, psychosocial care
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN, Social Work

Number of beds on unit:

• 34 beds (14 private rooms, 10 semi‑private rooms)

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire
