Job Overview

This role is considered the minimum for all nurses at UMMC with over 12 months of experience. The nurse will be competent in required skills, participate in unit governance, and adhere to the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter. Responsibilities include providing and coordinating patient care within a clinical specialty, participating actively in a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to strategies that improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and cost efficiency. The nurse is accountable to patients and families for care processes and outcomes, and to peers and the nurse manager for work performance.

Qualifications

• Current Maryland RN licensure or eligible via Compact agreements.
• Successful completion of probation and current mandatory training.
• Maintain 10 contact hours of education annually.
• Membership in a professional organization.
• Recent clinical experience in a comparable setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Leadership ability, such as charge nurse or preceptor roles.
• Proficiency with computer systems for patient information management.
• Knowledge of growth, development, and patient-specific assessment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Compensation and Benefits
