Parkwood Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility) in Desoto County, MS, is hiring a Registered Nurse to join an inpatient unit. The RN provides professional nursing care within a multidisciplinary treatment plan, following the nursing process, and may assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program, MS RN licensure, CPR, and at least 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred; BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Mississippi (or multi-state)
• BSN preferred
• One year psychiatric nursing experience preferred
• Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes and crisis management

Parkwood Behavioral Health System provides behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region and has been in business since 1987. We are located in Desoto County, in the northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Registered Nurse

• Status: Full-time
• Hours/Days:12-hour shifts (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.)
  • Rotating Nights

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health. The Registered Nurse prescribes, coordinates and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Registered Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. The Registered Nurse also may assume Charge Nurse Responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; BSN preferred.

Experience:

One (1) year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.

Licensure:

Licensure and registration by the Mississippi Board of Nursing as a registered nurse, or multi-state license as approved by NCSBN.

Knowledge:

Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth ad development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female children, adolescents and adults as well as dully diagnosed adults.
