Job summary

Methodist Boerne Emergency Center, a freestanding ER in Boerne, TX, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

As an ER RN, you will collaborate with providers, document care, teach patients and families, and respond promptly to increasing acuity. Minimum RN experience and required certifications ensure safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• RN required; 6 months RN experience minimum.
• ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or equivalent certifications must be obtained per policy.
• Emergency department experience and the ability to manage high-acuity patients are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and other tasks as ordered by clinicians; document care.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to ensure timely care.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plan, medications and follow-up.
• Support self-management with lifestyle guidance and discharge planning.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Interv Inst, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• 6 months Minimum experience Required as a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)

Methodist Boerne Emergency Center opened in 2008. The facility was the first 24/7 freestanding emergency center in South and Central Texas. It includes 15 private treatment rooms. All rooms are state of the art and fully equipped. We set our employees up for success! We offer high level emergency care with a depth of resources. These resources mirror an acute care hospital. Services include radiology, full service laboratory, and telemetry services. We exceed national standards for rapid evaluation and treatment in emergency cardiac cases.
