Methodist Boerne Emergency Center is seeking an experienced Charge Nurse CNC for the ER. The role leads patient-centered care, coordinates nursing functions on a shift, and partners with the management team to ensure clinical quality and operational efficiency.

You will drive throughput, staff development, and adherence to policies while prioritizing safety and excellent patient outcomes in a freestanding ER setting.

Qualifications

• Must obtain ACLS within 90 days of start date.
• Must obtain BLS within 30 days of start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation required.
• NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days of start date.
• STABLE certification required.
• TNCC certification required.
• RN license or equivalent (RN) required.
• Degree: ADN/BSN or RN Diploma.
• PALS required within 90 days.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission and discharge for efficient throughput and high-quality care.
• Assess quality of patient care with management team.
• Collaborate with experts and managers to improve outcomes.
• Support patient-first care and service recovery when needed.
• Implement nursing strategies to improve engagement, e.g. hourly rounds.
• Oversee interviewing, hiring, training, and conflict resolution actions.
• Coordinate staff scheduling and labor to meet patient care needs.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What you will do in this role:

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
• Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
• Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
• Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• STABLE
• Trauma Nursing Core Course
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Methodist Boerne Emergency Center opened in 2008. The facility was the first 24/7 freestanding emergency center in South and Central Texas. It includes 15 private treatment rooms.
