Job summary

Sisters of Charity Hospital, part of Catholic Health, is seeking a Maternal Child Float Pool RN for night shifts with call, weekends, and holiday rotation. Responsibilities include direct patient care in L&D, NICU, and maternal child areas, floating as needed, and coordinating care using the Nursing Process.

Strong teaching and teamwork skills are essential. Requirements include NY RN license, BLS, NRP or pending, ACLS or pending, and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Current New York State Nursing License and licensure requirements met.
• BSN strongly preferred for Maternal Child float pool.
• BLS certification current and active.
• NRP certification current or obtained within six months of hire.
• ACLS certification current or obtained within six months of hire.
• NRP and BLS maintained; ACLS & EFM if applicable.
• Basic fetal monitoring knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Maternal Child units (L&D, maternal child, NICU).
• Flexibly float through units based on volume and acuity.
• Coordinate patient care using the Nursing Process.
• Educate patients and families; participate in teaching.
• Collaborate with health care professionals; supervise non-licensed staff.
• Maintain competency based on previous unit experience.

Summary

The Maternal Child Float Pool RN will provide direct patient care and support to the Maternal Child patient care areas, Labor and Delivery (L&D), Maternal Child and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The RN will demonstrate specific Maternal Child float pool competency in all these areas of Maternal Child. The Float Pool RN is required to be flexible and may have to float throughout the Maternal Child Units multiple times throughout the shift depending on fluctuations in volume and acuity. Coordinates total patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. Provides and participates in patient and family teaching/education. Collaborates with other health care professionals in the coordination of patient care. Provides direction to other non-licensed personnel within the departments. The Float Pool RN will maintain a level of competency based on their previous unit's experience.

Responsibilities

EDUCATION

• Current New York State Nursing License
• Meets and is current and competent with all New York State licensure requirements

Experience

• A minimum of 2-3 years clinical experience in Maternal Child areas required
