Job summary

Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City is seeking a Float Registered Nurse to join the Saint Luke's Physician Group. This full-time day shift role involves float coverage across Central and East Regions, patient care in clinic settings, and coordination of care.

You will perform telephone triage, patient flow management, IV access with medication administration, and education for patients and families, with supervision as needed and teamwork with other clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• Associate degree in nursing (RN).

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in clinic settings following established standards and practices.
• Handle telephone triage, patient flow, and coordination of patient care.
• Schedule emergent need patient appointments and participate in education for patients and families.
• Entrust and delegate tasks to clinical staff within scope of practice.
• Manage admission orders and expired samples; work in a team or autonomously.

• East Region - includes clinics on/near the Saint Luke's East campus, Blue Springs, and Independence
  Central Region - includes clinics on/near the Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City (Plaza) campus.

The Opportunity

In clinic setting, provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Responsible for telephone triage, patient flow, and coordination of patient care. Schedules emergent need patient appointments, identifies learning needs for patients and families, provide advice and recommendations, inserts intravenous access with medication administration and duties as assigned based on clinic need. Delegates tasks to clinical staff in accordance with demonstrated competencies and consideration to Scope of Practice. Subject matter expert for patient education, assessment, interpretation, and documentation of patient care and testing. Enters admission orders as directed by provider. Responsible for managing expired samples. Able to work in a team atmosphere as well as autonomously. Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. May be responsible for covering Medical Assistant job duties, LPN job duties, or other office duties as needed.
