Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Registered Nurse Float to support patients across Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, and Newburgh. The role involves administering chemotherapy, monitoring patients, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced oncology setting.

We require NY RN licensure and BLS, with strong assessment and communication skills. EMR experience is preferred. The position follows a daytime schedule with on-site work in the NYCBS clinics.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills are required.
• Proficiency with an EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents as prescribed by a physician.
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs; document in the MAR.
• Collaborate with a healthcare team to share expertise.
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Educate patients and caregivers about treatment expectations and follow-up care.

Registered Nurse Float (RN)

Location

Poughkeepsie/Fishkill/Newburgh, NY

Hours/Days

5/8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri 7a-6:30p

In This Role, You Will

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require

• Valid New York State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
