Role Overview: The RN First Assistant (RNFA) provides expanded perioperative support by collaborating with surgeons during surgical procedures, delivering intraoperative patient care, and assisting with pre- and post-operative assessments. Responsibilities include analyzing patient data, developing individualized care plans, administering medications, and ensuring safety and efficiency in the perioperative environment. The RNFA works as part of the surgical team, contributing to optimal patient outcomes, and participates in professional development to stay current with industry standards.

Qualifications & Skills: Candidates must have a nursing diploma or associate’s degree, RN licensure, and 2-5 years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, Certified First Assistant, and CNOR certification. Strong collaboration, assessment, and communication skills are essential for success.

Key Duties: Deliver intraoperative assistance, perform focused assessments, monitor patient responses, modify care plans accordingly, and support team efficiency. Responsible for ethical practice, patient education, and advocating for perioperative safety.
