Job summary

Duke University is seeking a professional registered nurse for the Peds Cardiac Stepdown at Duke University Hospital. Responsibilities include providing patient care in accordance to medical plans, delegating tasks, and serving as a team leader. The ideal candidate will have a BSN or ADN, current RN licensure in North Carolina, and a minimum of one year of RN experience.

The position involves a full-time schedule of 3, 12-hour shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM, with rotating days and nights. Incentives include relocation assistance and a commitment bonus of $15,000.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma program.
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina or a compact state is required.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Job description

Location: 2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705

The Peds Cardiac Stepdown is located in Duke Central Tower at Duke University Hospital. Peds Cardiac Stepdown has 19 beds that primarily have infants through young adult patients with congenital heart disease, cardiac transplant, and cardiology patients that are trach and ventilator dependent. Nurse to patient staffing ratio is 1:3. Orientation is 4–6 weeks, depending on experience level.

Schedule

• Full Time: 3, 12‑hour shifts, 7a/7p, day/night rotating, 36 hours per week

What you will need

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma program
• Registered nurses without a BSN must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of hire and complete the program within seven years
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina or a compact state
• BLS Certification
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse
