Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an Emergency Department RN for a trauma center travel/per-diem role in Indiana. The candidate must have 3+ years in ED with adult and pediatric patients and be able to float to affiliates as needed.

Active Indiana RN license is required, with ACLS, BCLS, and PALS; NIH and TNCC preferred. Shifts are 12-hour, with charge nurse opportunities, and general ED coverage expectations apply.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Care for adult and pediatric ED patients with dysrhythmia management.

• Perform phlebotomy and establish IV access; manage CPAP/BiPAP and ventilation.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and safely float to affiliates.

Emergency Department RN - Trauma Center

Pre-Screening Information

This trauma center has 48 beds, expandable up to 62 beds using hall beds if necessary. Staffing ratios are maintained at no more than 1:4 for regular ED patients. Hold assignments may require ratios of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds. The emergency department averages 6.6 behavioral health patients daily. Please confirm if your candidate is comfortable proceeding with this opportunity.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

An active Indiana nursing license must be in hand to submit an application. Certification requirements include:

• ACLS
• BCLS
• PALS

Preferred certifications:

• NIH
• TNCC

Shift Details

Available shifts are either 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week. Candidates must be willing to work charge nurse shifts.

Candidate Eligibility

Local Indiana residents are not eligible to apply. First-time travel nurses are accepted.

Experience and Skill Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience required. Candidates must have at least level 2 trauma experience. Required skill set includes:

• General Emergency Department experience with combined adult and pediatric patients
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Phlebotomy and IV insertion
• Administration of continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
• Procedural sedation administration
• Management of CPAP/BiPAP and ventilated patients
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Floating Requirements

All travelers must be willing to float 100% of the time. Floating assignments may be within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed.

Additional Notes

Effective November 30, 2024, Indiana RNs will not be permitted to work at this facility, with certain exceptions for perioperative, OR, allied health, and ambulatory RN travelers. These exceptions include roles such as Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, PACU, Cath Lab, and Same Day Surgery.
