Job summary

Garden City Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide safe patient care in Telemetry and the Emergency Department. You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care while guiding patient and family teaching.

The role requires a valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS/ENPC within set timelines, plus at least 1 year of acute care/ER experience. Night shift, full-time. Sign-on bonus available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year experience as staff nurse RN in acute care; ER setting preferred.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• NRP certificate within 180 days; TNNC within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process in Telemetry, with direct patient care.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Maintain standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry and Emergency Department.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the physician with test results and symptoms.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response.
• Ensure EMTALA compliance and report child/adult abuse per policy; protect patient privacy.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.

2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

6. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.

7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.

8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 180 days upon hire and maintain current.

2. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
