Description

The registered nurse assumes principal responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the respective unit.

Responsibilities
  1. This nurse is responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care.
  2. The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client / family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Andalusia Health and the Department of Nursing.
  3. The registered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care.
  4. The position is accountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel for assigned units.
  5. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriate nursing coverage for patients of Andalusia Health on all units.
  6. The registered nurse is responsible for providing care to all patient populations with consideration to age-specificity and diagnosis.

  • Associate's degree: Required

  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations.
  • Verbal communication skills to present information related to nursing theory and practice.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and accountability for providing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care with leadership qualities.
  • Practical and cognitive ability to provide age-appropriate nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Alabama.
  • BLS/CPR required within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months of employment.
