Registered Nurse - Endoscopy - Per Diem - Day - Mount Sinai Queens

Join Mount Sinai Queens as a Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy Department. The Clinical Nurse provides safe, competent, high-quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of care and professional practice in collaboration with the healthcare team, adhering to institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
  2. Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care, applying sound nursing judgment in management decisions.
  3. Provide direct, continuous care for a caseload of patients, utilizing the nursing process based on research and standards.
  4. Coordinate patient care activities, including teaching, rounding, counseling, discharge planning, and delegation to team members.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care plans.
  6. Participate in quality improvement, research activities, and utilize findings in practice.
  7. Contribute to improving care quality through assessment and measurement of care processes and outcomes.
  8. Maintain responsibility and accountability for safe and competent nursing practice.
  9. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  10. Collaborate on care planning with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  11. Manage discharge planning from admission to transfer or discharge, including follow-up calls.
  12. Perform charge responsibilities as assigned.
  13. Maintain clinical competence and pursue professional growth.
  14. Serve as a role model and preceptor for students and new staff.
  15. Support the mission and standards of the institution and department.
  16. Participate in risk management and safety initiatives.
  17. Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude.
  18. Incorporate ethical principles in practice.
  19. Use resources prudently and promote positive patient interactions.
  20. Treat everyone with dignity and respect.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for new graduates and experienced nurses; Associate Degree or Diploma considered for specialized areas.
  • Experience: Current enrollment in a BSN program with graduation within one year preferred; relevant clinical experience required.
  • License/Certification: Valid RN license from DOH, BLS, NRP (Labor & Delivery, NICU), ACLS (various units), PALS (pediatric units).

Compensation

The hourly salary range is $71.29, depending on experience and qualifications. This does not include bonuses or additional benefits.
