Job Overview:

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. It also collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members to meet patient needs. The role may involve delegating certain care aspects within the scope of nursing practice. Typically, this position is in departments operating Monday through Friday with minimal or no weekend on-call requirements.

Job Requirements:

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• New hires must obtain a BSN within 5 years of employment
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
• Certification in a specialty within two years of assuming the position
• Registered Nurse licensure
• Knowledge and skills from Biological, Physical, Behavioral, Social, and Nursing sciences
• Preferred membership in professional organizations
• Up to 1 year of experience in a clinical nursing unit-specific area

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families, document findings, and communicate with healthcare providers.
2. Plan and individualize care based on assessments, standards, and outcomes, including discharge planning.
3. Provide a safe, respectful, and ethical environment, recognizing emergency situations and responding appropriately.
4. Complete patient assignments and document care within scheduled timeframes.
5. Train and educate staff, act as an expert resource, and effectively communicate physician orders.
6. Evaluate and revise care plans based on patient responses and collaborate with the healthcare team.
7. Perform technical skills safely and administer treatments and medications appropriately.
8. Identify areas for personal improvement, support organizational goals, and stay current with practice standards.
