Overview:
Sentara Obici Hospital, part of the nationally recognized Sentara Healthcare system, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Endoscopy team. This position offers a Flexi Rotating Shift schedule, providing an excellent opportunity for nurses seeking flexible hours in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Job Summary:
The Endoscopy RN is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care throughout the endoscopic procedure process, including pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedural support, and post-procedure recovery. The ideal candidate demonstrates clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
Assist physicians during procedures by managing sedation, monitoring patient vitals, and ensuring safety.
Prepare procedure rooms and maintain equipment according to infection control and safety standards.
Educate patients and families on procedure expectations, post-procedure care, and follow-up.
Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote continuity and quality of care.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or compact license).
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred; endoscopy or procedural experience strongly desired.
Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including some weekends and holidays, based on departmental needs.
