The Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy provides competent, evidence-based procedural care to patients, overseeing Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses, Medical Instrument Technicians, and Health/Nursing Assistants as appropriate. Responsibilities include patient care, care coordination, health promotion, education, and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. The RN assists in nursing education, orientation, competencies, quality improvement, and outcomes enhancement. The RN manages care for patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures, assessing physical and mental status, educating on care, documenting responses, and reporting changes. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe transitions and align care with Veteran’s goals.
The RN demonstrates specialty care knowledge, self-direction, critical thinking, and adaptability, functioning in roles such as charge nurse, pre-procedure assessment, post-procedure recovery, and assisting physicians. Maintains proficiency with endoscopy equipment, recognizes changes in patient status, and responds to emergencies. May be assigned call duties per facility policy.
7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one late stay per week as needed.

Preferred Experience: Recent procedural experience in GI or similar setting, moderate sedation, and specialty certification are preferred.
