Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina Endoscopy team is seeking an Endoscopy RN to join a collaborative procedural care environment. You’ll work alongside physicians, anesthesia providers, technicians, and fellow nurses in a fast-paced setting where patient safety, teamwork, and attention to detail matter every day.

You will perform pre-procedure assessments, establish IV access, educate patients and families, support the procedural team during endoscopy, monitor sedation, and contribute to

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current South Carolina or Compact State RN license.
  • Current BLS.
  • Current ACLS.
  • Previous Endoscopy or acute-care nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completing pre-procedure assessments and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Establishing IV access and administering medications as ordered.
  • Providing patient and family education.
  • Supporting physicians and the procedural team during endoscopic procedures.
  • Monitoring patients receiving sedation and/or anesthesia.
  • Recognizing and responding quickly to changes in patient condition.
  • Providing post-procedure recovery care and determining readiness for discharge.
  • Educating patients and caregivers on discharge and follow-up instructions.

Call Requirements

This position participates in the Endoscopy Department's call rotation , including after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage as assigned. Team members must be able to respond within the department's required call-back timeframe.
