Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Director of Emergency Department.

FLSA: Non-exempt.

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing Required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

License: Current RN license to practice in the state of (TX).

Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS; NIHSS within 90 days of hire.

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required.

Essential Functions: Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
