Job summary

St. David's HealthCare is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room on the night shift. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team and physicians, using established nursing models to guide assessments, teaching, and management.

The RN will advocate for patients and families, participate in councils and initiatives, and contribute to positive clinical outcomes within a 24/7 emergency department setting.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required within specified timeframes.
• RN license and degree requirements as per state standards.
• TNCC or equivalent certification within 1 year of start date.
• PALS certification within 90 days of starting date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management with reassessment after intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered and document care promptly.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to provide exceptional care.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about condition, treatment plan, medications, and potential side effects; translate medical terms for understanding.
• Instruct on non-medicinal follow-up measures and prepare for future self-management.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
• Nonviolent Crisis Interv Inst, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Methodist ER Nacogdoches serves the Northeast and surrounding area. We are a 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 5,808 square-foot facility features 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies. In these cases, treatment time is critical. We provide 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases. Our compassionate team of medical professionals work to stabilize critical patients and transport, should they need hospitalization, to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio.
